If you're overweight and have little kids, you could actually be hurting their development.
A new study published in the journal "Pediatrics" shows that children who have obese moms are 70% more likely to fail fine motor skills tests than children with normal or underweight moms. That number goes up to 75% if the child's father is obese. Children are also three times more likely to fail at problem solving tests if their parents are obese.
Researchers say it's not clear why parental obesity leads to delays in kids, but one theory is that obesity during pregnancy may lead to inflammation, which can affect a growing baby's brain.
