Crazy Hat Day in honor of Maksym Sugorovskiy

Posted

Over the weekend many Western New York students will be finding crazy hats to wear to school Monday morning.  Local schools and businesses are taking part in the first annual "Crazy Hats for Kindness Day", which is a day dedicated to spreading kindness in the community.  The day was created in honor of 3-year-old Maksym Sugorovskiy, who was hit by a car and killed in Delaware Park in May of 2015.

Maksym's family formed the non-profit foundation called the Giving Tree Foundation.  The foundation works to promote the same kindness their son had in his short life.

To celebrate Crazy Hat Day, students and employees wear a fun hat, and make a dollar donation to the foundation.  The money is used to encourage kindness in the community, and facilitaties acts of kindness, as well as outreach.  More information can be found here.
