Three King Cobras and an 'undetermined' amount of exotic reptiles were seized from a home by the Department of Environmental Conservation in the Village of Allegany Thursday, according to the Olean Times Herald.
Officers found many reptiles in enclosures inside the house. All of the reptiles seized by the DEC will be taken to the Buffalo Zoo.
DEC officials did tell the Olean Times Herald that the owner of the reptiles was a retired biology teacher.
In New York, it is illegal to possess or sell venomous reptiles without a permit from the DEC.
Police have not made any arrests. An investigation is underway.
