People who live in Depew were dealing with a lengthy power outage Wednesday. Neighbors say they lost power Tuesday, but the outages extended into Wednesday morning.
NYSEG reports 2,271 customers in Depew were without power early Wednesday morning.
Restoration times were moved up throughout Wednesday morning. It was originally expected back on at 5:00 a.m. Wednesday. That time was furthered to 7:00 a.m. At 8:00 a.m., NYSEG was still reporting 2,271 outages. However, a spokesperson told 7 Eyewitness News, all power was restored as of 7:45 a.m. We were then told at 8:30, there were still 3,500 outages around Erie county and things should be back up and running at 9:00 a.m.
Depew firefighters say the power outage was caused by a fire in a major power line, Tuesday. The power line caught fire during Tuesday's powerful wind and rain storm.
