7 Eyewitness news has learned that Dr. Eugene Gosy has been temporarily suspended from treating workers within the state's workers compensation system.
Gosy's office was voluntarily closed last week, but is scheduled to reopen Monday, May 16th.
The chair of the state's workers' compensation board "believes that Dr. Gosy may be guilty of misconduct, and that such misconduct would detrimentally affect the quality of care provided to injured workers." Gosy is accused of writing thousands of illegal prescriptions, many for opiods.
All workers' compensation reports submitted before May 6th, 2016 are still valid.
The three top insurance carriers in Western New York have also dropped Dr. Gosy from their networks.
