GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WKBW) — As Grand Island Central Schools prepare for another school year, they do so equipped with the "My Stop" app, which allows parents to track the movement of their child's bus.
"We're able to see where the bus is and prepare the students to get out to the bus stop" Grand Island Central School District Transportation Supervisor Theresa Alizadeh said.
The usage of the app is pretty simple, parents log into the app online or their smart phone using an ID and password associated with the student. Each bus has a GPS on board that allows the bus to be tracked, so parents can see the entire route. The app also allows parents to see if a bus is delayed and why that happened.
"We're taking safety and putting it in the palms of parents hands," Alizadeh said, "Parents want to know where their students are."
The app is free to download and is being used by many Western New York Districts.
