BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Democrat Sean Ryan has declared victory in the New York State Senate’s 60th District, defeating Republican Joshua Mertzlufft.
The seat has been vacant since Rep. Chris Jacobs (R-Orchard Park) won the special election for New York’s 27th Congressional District.
The 60th Senate District includes Grand Island, Kenmore and Tonawanda, Buffalo, Lackawanna, Hamburg, Blasdell, Evans, Angola and Orchard Park.
Sean Ryan (D-Buffalo) served as the assemblyman for New York State’s 149th District, representing the western part of Erie County from Buffalo to Hamburg. He was first elected to the Assembly in 2011.
