An electric bill phone scam is requesting over-the-phone payments is targeting the Village of Mayville.
The Village of Mayville has received three phone calls from local businesses about past due electric bills that it says is not associated with the Village of Mayville Electric Department.
The Village of Mayville says it does not accept any payments over the phone, and if a caller asks for a payment, contact the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office. You can also alert the Village of Mayville Clerk's Office at 753-2125.
