Next Thursday, September 20 at 2:18 p.m. your cell phone will buzz and display a message from the Government.
The message from FEMA is a test- the first of its kind to hit every cellular device across the Nation. The goal is to reach as many people as possible in an emergency situation.
"If something was going on some type of attack, or catastrophic event, the message will push to all cell phones," said Dan Neaverth Jr., the Commissioner of the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services for Erie County.
The wireless message will read:
"THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed."
No one should panic or call 911.
