OLEAN, N.Y. (WKBW) — With kids home from school it's sometimes hard for them to get excited for school work, or look forward to the next lesson.

That's why a school principal in Olean found a way to keep kids on the edge of their seats when it comes to reading.

Washington West Elementary School principal Lauren Stuff is reading "Charlotte's Web" to her students.

"Hey husky pups! It's Miss Stuff and I'm back with our 'Charlotte's Web' 'read-a-loud'."

Principal Stuff picked a chapter book so the kids could easily follow along, and get excited for what comes next.

"It definitely gives the kids something to look forward to, so I always open with where did we left, and I always end with where are we going," Principal Stuff said. "I've tried to get them to think about what's coming next and make a prediction. They already might know, but it's great to be able to follow along with them"

Along with the lessons the Olean City School District is also distributing lunches to students.

About 250 lunches are being served every day just at Washington West.
