A 15-year-old girl was killed early Saturday morning in a one-car crash that snapped a telephone pole in two.

It happened around 1am on Dow Road in the Town of Centerville. State Police say the driver of a 2005 Chevy Cobalt lost control and hit the pole.

Five people were in the vehicle. The driver, 21-year-old Thomas Marion of Caneadea, was seriously injured. One of the passengers, 15-year-old Jasmine Uveino-Braymiller of Portageville, was killed.

The cause of the crash is under investigation and police are working to determine if alcohol played a role.
