Each year, police departments report their crime data to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The FBI then creates a crime report.
The data from 2016 to 2017 has just been released. We took a closer look at the numbers. Of the ten categories analyzed, the Town of Amherst saw an increase in five, while Buffalo saw an increase in just one. The FBI analyzes violent crime, murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, property crime, burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle thefts and arson.
Overall, it looks like the City of Buffalo saw Violent crime in the City of Buffalo decreased 11 percent from 2016 to 2017, but jumped 40 percent in Amherst.
