The recent increase in Buffalo's gas prices appears to be slowing. According to AAA, prices remained steady last week in the Buffalo area.
The average for a gallon of gas was $2.42 a gallon, in between the national ($2.38) and state ($2.45) average. The state average is nearly 50 cents lower than a year ago.
Nearby Rochester also saw no change in gas prices over the past week, remaining at $2.39 a gallon. Prices dropped one-cent in Syracuse, to $2.34 a gallon.
According to AAA, with most of the summer vacation season still ahead, gasoline consumption could reach a new record over the summer.
