The Genesee County Sheriff's Office says that someone claiming to be from National Grid is calling businesses and residents, saying that they owe money, and if they don't pay, their service will be shut off.
This person also claims that letters were sent to the residents and business. According to authorities, this person gives out the phone number 844-691-3363.
National Grid is aware of the scam. Police say that this is not just a local scam, but it is relatively new and that National Grid is working on notifying their customers.
National grid advises that if you do receive this call, to ask for their account number. Or contact National Grid directly.
