Goundwork Buffalo hired about 5 Buffalo teens through the Mayor Summer Youth Program.
The teens are going though Eastside communities planting, cleaning, and redeveloping neighbors. The city are paying them minimum wage for their summer work.
The objective is to empower communities by educating youth. This group of students are also partnering with local organizations and individuals such as the African Heritage Food Co-op, Organic Gentlemen, Hamlin Park Community, Tax-Payers Association, and more.
De’Yron Tabb with Groundwork Buffalo is the team leader and mentor.
“We’re trying to cultivate entrepreneurs and owners o their own destinies so they won’t slip right into a statistic,” Tabb said.
