As you celebrate Easter weekend, the Erie County SPCA is reminding pet owners to keep an eye out for things that might be harmful to pets.
Chocolate and Easter lilies can be harmful or even deadly to pets. Ingesting parts of lilies can result in kidney failure, and eating chocolate can cause animals to have cardiac failure, seizures, or fall into a coma.
Additionally, the SPCA is reminding anyone who is thinking about buying a bunny for the home to make sure you're prepared to care for the animal after the holiday is over.
Some other helpful tips for pets at Easter:
-Keep Easter basket grass and foil wrappers away from pets
-Be aware of bones if you give any food to pets
-Make sure animals can't get into the garbage, where they could ingest anything harmful
