Home ownership down in WNY

Posted

According to the Census Bureau 2017 home ownership in the Buffalo - Cheektowaga - Niagara Falls region was at the second lowest point in 25 years at less than 65%. This means that more people are deciding to rent instead of buy.

A reason for this could be due to how difficult it is to buy a home, something one new home buyer has experienced.

"You have to jump through a lot of hoops, you almost feel like a criminal because they double check everything" Christine Keleman said.

Keleman officially purchased a home in Olcott on Thursday after looking for almost two years.

"To have something I can call home and to know it's mine, and that my kids can call home, that means so much to me."
