A fire in Wheatfield was reported just before 5 a.m. early Friday morning.
The Niagara County Sheriff's Office received 911 calls about a structure fire located at Oppenheim Park. Deputies say a homeless man was burned in the fire.
Investigators revealed an elderly man sustained severe burns to his upper and lower extremities from the flames. The building was approximately 100 yards off the roadway at the site of the old Oppenheim Zoo.
The victim went to ECMC for treatment. Fire personnel was able to extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
