The filming production of a new movie is underway in Buffalo. Cheektowaga Native and Actor, William "Bill" Fichtner is shooting the movie "Cold Brook."

"I'm wearing a lot of hats on this as one of the producers, directing, and co-writer, and playing the lead in it," Fichtner said.

It's a movie Fichtner wrote about two guys who return home to make a life-changing decision. This is the first movie Fichtner will direct. The small independent film will showcase mostly Buffalo talent and some of Fichtner's closest Hollywood friends like Canadian-American Actor, Kim Coates.

The Buffalo History Museum, homes, and businesses in and around the Buffalo area will be used as backdrops for this movie over the next three weeks.

Buffalo Niagara Film Commissioner, Tim Clark says it's an exciting time for Western New York and its film industry. Three movies are filming right now in the area. This means millions for the local economy. Just last year the big budget film "Marshall" was shot in Buffalo.

"I think they come to Upstate New York really for the tax incentive at first. But once they get here, they sort of see the assets that we have the architectural assets then they are blown away," Clark said.

Fichtner said he's received a lot of support from the home team as he embarks on a new journey on the big screen.

"I lived in New York for 28 years. I live in  L.A. now for 12 years. But they are not home. Home is when I'm here always was and always will be," Fichtner said.

There will be an opportunity for locals to be selected as extras for the movie. Local filming will take place in East Aurora.
