This weekend you can take your kids for some free fun at a local horse rescue. Roanchar Ranch in Varysburg is having an open house as a way to give back to the community for help building a new fence.
Earlier this summer, 7 Eyewitness News introduced you to Barney the blind horse who was rescued by the ranch.
He was having a hard time adjusting until he found a friend, Titan, to follow around. Still, the ranch needed help replacing the fence in Barney's yard. Because Barney wasn't able to see the fence, he would sometimes walk into it and get shocked. After our story aired, viewers donated enough money for a new fence to be built. The new fence has a special top that Barney can bump into without being shocked.
"Barney loves it. He goes on adventures with Titan, he hasn't hit it yet. He's thrilled, we're thrilled, and it's one less thing that we have to stress out about him," explained Lida Mosovich, President of Roanchar Ranch Draft Horse Rescue.
To thank the community for the help, the ranch is holding an open house this weekend. You can come to the ranch, meet the horses, go on a hay ride, and have lunch. Everything is free. The open house runs from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the ranch at 3282 Center Line Road in Varysburg.
