How Buffalo students are helping a young shooting victim

On Friday, some Buffalo students were getting a crash course in love and compassion.

Students, teachers and administrators at Harvey Austin School welcomed Donnell Bibbes to their building.

The little boy nearly lost his life two summers ago after being struck in the head by a stray bullet in Buffalo.

Students at the Academy raised more than $300 by saving their pennies.

The money will benefit Donnell's Trust, to help with his recovery and future expenses.

"I think it means a lot to them, I'm sure in the grand scheme of things its not a lot of money, but in the grand scheme of things it shows that people care about them," said Abigail Tate, a 3rd grade teacher at Harvey Austin.

Donations can be made to PO Box 233, Buffalo, NY 14201.  Made out to Donnell Bibbes Trust Fund.
