A young priest in Lackawanna has been suspended for alleged sexual misconduct with an adult woman.

The Rev. Samuel T. Giangreco Jr., parochial vicar of Our Lady of Victory Basilica, has been suspended by Bishop Richard J. Malone after the diocese received "a complaint of sexual misconduct with an adult female," the diocese announced in a written statement. "Please note that this administrative leave is for the purpose of investigation and does not imply any determination as to the truth or falsity of the complaint."

Giangreco was ordained in 2016, according to the diocesan directory. He was a parishioner at St. Gregory the Great Church in Amherst before his ordination, according to a church bulletin.

He is the 111th priest in the Buffalo Diocese to be publicly accused of sexual misconduct.

He did not immediately respond to a message left for comment at the basilica.
