A man who pulled a gun on police but was foiled in his escape attempt by a patch of ice pleaded guilty Wednesday.
Jamal Young was walking in the middle of East Delavan Avenue on March 8 when officers approached him. He pulled out a .22 caliber pistol but fled instead of opening fire. Police pursued and caught Young when he slipped and fell on some ice and went into a snow bank.
The 20-year-old Buffalo man was carrying 20 bags of marijuana in his pockets.
Young pleaded guilty to second degree criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana. He faces a minimum sentence of three-and-a-half-years and a maximum sentence of 15 years when he is sentenced in February.
