The UFC has gone ahead and scheduled a series of mixed martial arts events for Madison Square Garden next April, despite the fact MMA is still illegal in New York state.
New York banned this type of fighting in 1997 but the UFC says MMA is legal all over the world and it's high time New York followed suit.
The group has gone to the U.S. Court of Appeals claiming New York's ban is unconstitutional and it violates the First Amendment rights of athletes and fans throughout the state.
The UFC also says that if it fails to obtain a preliminary injunction against New York than the event at Madison Square Garden will not be able to take place.
