Highly touted prospect Jimmy Vesey has decided to play for the New York Rangers.
The decision for Vesey comes after meeting with several different teams, since becoming a free agent Tuesday at midnight.
Vesey, 23, was acquired by the Buffalo Sabres in a trade with the Nashville Predators earlier this summer. The Sabres gave up a third-round pick in this years draft for the rights to Vesey.
Right after he was acquired, Vesey's agent told 7ABC the plan was to go to free agency and test the market.
Not locking up Vesey is certainly a blow to Sabres fans, but the team has plenty of reasons to be optimistic.
The Sabres take on the Rangers, Thursday, December 1.
