The head of the Ken-Ton School District is retiring, less than three years after arriving.

Dawn Mirand sent an email to staff this morning announcing her retirement after 31 years in education.

Her retirement will be official on Tuesday, when the school board is expected to name an interim superintendent.

Mirand joined the Ken-Ton district in May 2014 after serving as superintendent of the Mount Morris School District in Livingston County.

She leaves after the completion of a district-wide consolidation plan that saw three schools close at the end of the 2015-2016 school year due to declining enrollment.
