KeyBank warns customers of phishing scam

Some KeyBank customers are receiving text messages urging them to call a phone number regarding important information about their account. The bank says, don't do it!

A spokesperson for KeyBank provided this statement on the scam:

“This is a phishing scam that KeyBank and other banks encounter from time to time. Clients who receive a text purporting to be from KeyBank security should not contact the telephone number provided. When KeyBank blocks a card in order to protect clients’ accounts, we notify clients via telephone and not by sending a text or an email.

Any KeyBank client who responded to a phishing text and provided card numbers or personal information should check their accounts and report any unauthorized transactions by contacting the KeyBank Fraud & Disputes Hotline at 1-800-433-0124. The KeyBank Privacy and Security page, www.Key.com/security, contains additional useful information for people who want to help protect themselves from fraud.”
