Kidney transplants hit record high at ECMC

With 15 days to go, 2016 has already proven to be a history making year for giving the gift of life at ECMC.

A record 118 kidney transplants have taken place at the medical center's Regional Transplantation and Kidney Care Center of Excellence over the past year - the highest ever.

The kidneys have come from both living donors and from those who passed away.

ECMC's transplant program has been offering kidney transplants since 1964. Kidney transplants at the hospital have increased nearly 20 percent since 2010.
