The New York State Buy American Act is now on its way to Governor Cuomo's desk.
Both the Senate and Assembly passed the buy American policy which would require companies to buy American-made iron and steel for projects like bridges, subways and new state buildings.
The goal is to boost American manufacturing.
“The manufacturing of iron and steel in the U.S. means guaranteed jobs for thousands of people,” said Senator Young. “The more jobs we keep here, the more the manufacturing sector will grow which in turn creates even more jobs and drives more money back into the economy. We must do all we can to preserve and increase good-paying manufacturing jobs. This bill will directly and positively impact our national, state and local economy and ultimately our own prosperity.”
