Local Catholics react to Buffalo Catholic Diocese whistleblower

Posted

One day after whistleblower, Siobahn O'Connor, came forward to face the media after speaking out about the Buffalo Diocese priest scandal, a few local Catholics shared their opinions.

“I believe that she is of god, and has god in her and when you have god in you, you do the right thing," St. Mary's parishioner, Mary Ellen Sanfilippo, said. “She will answer to god, she won’t answer to Bishop Malone and I just admire her tremendously.”

7 Eyewitness News' investigation into the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo has recently gone global, after being picked up by CBS' 60 Minutes Sunday. Some parishioners think there is only one solution left for the Catholic Church in Western New York.

“The only way we can’t an end to this is to get the Pope to come to Buffalo to remove him [Bishop Richard Malone]," St. Christopher's Parishioner, Michael Skalski, says.
