Local coffee roaster, supplier opens first cafe downtown

Posted

They've finally found a home. The crew behind Overwinter Coffee has been appearing in popups across Western New York and roasting coffee for other cafes, but now they're running the show.

Overwinter Coffee is now open at 9 Genesee Street in Downtown Buffalo, serving hot (and cold) refreshments! Friends and co-owners Ben Trojan and Joshua Halliman have been roasting coffee and supplying to Perks Cafe and Grindhaus for the past year. They're now serving their own coffee in Roosevelt Square.

The friends decided they wanted to take coffee into their own hands after not being able to find a product they both enjoyed. Trojan and Halliman pride themselves on creating products they enjoy personally and being able to provide a different product to Western New York's coffee market. "We're not going to pretend we're the only coffee shop around. We just want to be different," says Halliman.

Overwinter Coffee focuses on single-origin, locally roasted coffee. They create from-scratch chocolate syrup and vanilla syrup if you want to sweeten their brews.
