BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A 24-year-old man at the center of a SWAT standoff is in custody, a deceased female body was found inside the apartment, according to police. The man is also being charged in the July stabbing death of his ex-girlfriend.
Buffalo SWAT responded to the call for an individual who barricaded himself inside an apartment Jefferson Avenue Friday morning around 7:30 a.m. Authorities say 24-year-old Charles Jones surrendered peacefully before 10:30 a.m.
On Monday, authorities confirmed the victim found inside the apartment is Alethia Williams, Jones' mother. The autopsy revealed she died as a result of wounds "sustained by a sharp object."
The Erie County District Attorney's Office announced Friday afternoon Jones is charged with murder in the stabbing death of his ex-girlfriend, 25-year-old Jacquette Lee in her apartment on Main Street near Heath Street a month ago. Lee was a KeyBank employee.
Jones is being held without bail and faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison if convicted.
