BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — When Buffalo Police Department Officer Richard Cruz Sr. passed away in 2009, his badge was retired and given to his son, Richard Jr. Ten years later, that same badge has been re-activated and is now being worn by Richard Jr.
Cruz has been an officer since 2014, but recently asked if he could wear his father's badge. On Wednesday, Buffalo Police Commissioner Byron Lockwood re-activated the badge that belonged to Cruz Sr. and gave it to his son to wear.
