BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Phillip and Mason Gray of Virginia share the a birthday, November 3. They also share a love of football. But, they don't love the same teams.
“I am a Redskins fan,” Phillip Gray said.
“I am a Buffalo Bills fan,” Mason said. But, it wasn’t always like this.
“Well they started out as good kids," Phillip said. "All Skins fan, but my wife’s aunt has corrupted them.”
Phillips wife Kelly was born in Buffalo, but moved to Virginia when she was a teen. So, a lot of her relatives still root for the blue and red.
"It’s fun, we talk a lot of smack to each other about the teams,” Mason said. But, this family goes beyond just bad mouthing each others teams.
"Every time one of us comes to visit, somebody plays a prank on the other one," Kelly said.
The pranks started small. For example, one day Phillip put Red Skin emblems all over Kelly's aunts car without her knowing. Kelly's family once painted Phillips underwear Buffalo Bills colors and threw it on a tree in their front lawn.
But, Mason says the biggest prank of them all, is when Aunt Kathy spray painted Phillips Lawn with the words "Buffalo Bills."
So the Skins, Buffalo rivalry runs deep for this family and what better way to continue the rivalry than at New Era Field watching a Redskins vs. Bills game on their birthday.
"I'm just excited for the game on Sunday and to share it with them on their birthday," Aunt Kathy said. "Unfortunately, Phillip will leave being very sad."
