NIAGARA COUNTY (WKBW) — The Niagara County SPCA announced an abused puppy has been adopted by the officer who helped rescue him.

6-month-old Hemi was seized from a home after an anonymous caller stated there were two dogs in a backyard that looked to be in rough condition.

Hemi, was emaciated, dehydrated and could hardly walk. Officials said his back leg was so swollen and bruised that the officer had to carry him.

On December 2 the SPCA announced Hemi was doing much better, expected to make a full recovery and the officer who helped rescue him would be adopting him.

Hemi was adopted by the officer Tuesday, "Hemi the abused puppy was adopted by the police officer who rescued him and never forgot about him. ❤️," the SPCA said in a Facebook post.

The other dog, Foreign, is doing well and officials say she will be adopted by a local sheriff's deputy when she is medically cleared.
