Allegany County teacher arrested for alleged intimate relationship with student

BELFAST, N.Y. (WKBW) — New York State Police say a teacher from Belfast Central School has been arrested for allegedly having an intimate relationship with a 15-year-old student.

State police say 25-year-old Christopher Enlow of Hornell, N.Y. faces endangering the welfare of a child charges following an investigation that began May 5th.

According to police, Enlow was being investigated for a possible relationship with the 15-year-old victim. As a result of the investigation text messages of an intimate relationship were found.

Belfast Central School released a statement Friday evening.

On the afternoon of May 10, 2019, the Belfast Central was notified of secondary Math teacher, Christopher Enlow’s arrest. Mr. Enlow taught at Belfast Central School since August 2017. Please be advised, the District no longer employs Mr. Enlow. The Board of Education accepted his resignation at a special meeting this evening (May 10, 2019). Be assured, the District has cooperated and will continue to cooperate with authorities, and is committed to the well-being of all students.

Enlow was arraigned in the Town of Belfast Court.
