TOWN OF TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WKBW) — Amazon Logistics will open a delivery station in the Town of Tonawanda and create hundreds of full and part-time jobs, the company announced Thursday.
The center "will power Amazon's last-mile delivery capabilities to speed up deliveries for customers in the Erie County area," Amazon said in a news release.
The company is not specifying where the delivery station will be located, but it is expected to be built along River Road in the Riverview Solar Technology Park as part of a development the town has called 'Project Bruno.' The property is currently owned by TM Montante.
"We've been looking to build a hub of business excellence in the Town of Tonawanda, and Amazon's just a great fit for that," said Chris Campos, President of TM Montante.
The facility will cost $25 million to build. The site sits on 24 acres and will be 115,000 square feet.
The site is expected to open in 2020.
