AMHERST, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Erie County District Attorney's Office announced that 35-year-old Om D. Samant of Amherst was arraigned Thursday in State Supreme Court on an indictment charging him with one count of second-degree murder.
Samant allegedly beat and stabbed his mother 58-year-old Jagruti Samant inside their shared home on Thistle Lea on December 26, 2022. Police found her dead at the scene.
Samant is scheduled to return on April 25 for a pre-trial conference and remains held without bail. He faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
