BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — New York State Assembly Majority Leader Crystal Peoples-Stokes hosted the third community conversation focusing on business opportunities that could come from legalizing adult use of marijuana.
She said the legalization of marijuana is not a question of if, it's a question of when.
Peoples-Stokes said the community conversation is an opportunity to educate the public on the economic implications once it comes into the legal market.
The discussion included a panel of business owners, lawyers and others to help people understand the business.
"[It's about] helping people understand that you don't necessarily have to be touching the plant in order to be in the business," she said. "There are a lot of other things that you can do around this industry. And this is just an opportunity for folks to learn that, understand it and figure out where they fit in."
The assemblywoman said she expects to see something in the governor's proposed budget for 2020 on legalizing marijuana.
