BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A Buffalo man will spend time in state prison for running over and dragging a Buffalo Police officer while driving an ATV on a city street.

41-year-old Cornelius J. Caddale of Buffalo hit the officer in June of 2019 while the officer was on a bicycle patrol at the Juneteenth Festival in the vicinity of Fillmore Avenue & Best Street.

Caddale fled from police when they attempted to ticket him for the illegal use of the ATV. As he tried to drive away, Caddale ran over an officer and dragged him for approximately 15 feet. Caddale did not stop until he was apprehended several blocks away.

The officer suffered from road rash and a back injury but has since returned to the job.

Caddale will spend 1 ½ to 3 years in state prison for the attempted assault charge.
