BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — “It's hitting the music community pretty hard,” said Matthew Sperber with the Irish band Crikwater.
The show must go on. Easier said than done during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Normally, this is our biggest weekend for sure,” added Sperber.
You can still find live shows. You just can’t see the shows live, in person.
Crikwater’s show Tuesday night at Community Beerworks was streamed on Buffalo.FM. Anyone social distancing at their home can watch the show for free. But, the bands are asking for some help. There's a link to leave a tip.
So if you missed this show. Fret not. Buffalo.FM will host a streamed concert every night for the next 60 days.
Buffalo.fm and Ripe Audio are working together to bring a temporary solution to artists and help support their expenses.
Proceeds will go directly to artists, according to the organizers and they will all get a stipend provided by donations and sponsors.
A donation link will be posted on each video and viewers can help send money via PayPal or Venmo to their favorite artists. There will be no charge to view the concerts, but fans are encouraged to donate the the project’s GoFundMe or directly to the artists via the payment link.
It’s like a virtual tip jar.
Each show will last 30-45 minutes and be streamed live, but also available to each band or artist to archive and provide to their audiences for additional viewing after the “concert” ends.
Shows are open to full-time musicians and bands in the greater-Buffalo area.
