Buffalo Ball Drop Celebration: Everything you need to know for New Year's Eve

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — It's the end of another year and the Buffalo Ball Drop Celebration kicks off the New Year's Eve party.

The New Year's Eve celebration kicks off at 10pm Roosevelt Plaza right in front of the Electric Tower. The ball drop event doubles as a benefit for the Police Athletic League-- to help the organization raise the needed funds to support the many youth programs they provide for the community.

Before you head downtown:
-It may be a good idea to grab an umbrella or rain poncho. The forecast is looking like a warm but rainy evening as temperatures will be in the 40s with a chance of showers.

Parking:
-Free parking will be available on Pearl Street in the Buffalo Civic Auto Ramps, Main Place Mall, and Fernbach Ramps, directions to the parking lots can be found here.
-Uber/Lyft/ other ride sharing services are also an option to get downtown. There will be a ride sharing drop-off area on Pearl Street between Huron and Chippewa.
-Many streets will be blocked off for the event including sections of Washington Street, Genesee Street, and Main Street. A map is attached.

Security:
-There will be a high police presence throughout downtown.
-Pack light-- avoid bringing large bags, and just bring what you need, Deputy Police Commissioner Joesph Gramaglia added.

Entertainment:
-Local musicians will take the stage starting at 10pm.
-Saxophonist Will Horton will open up the show followed by the "Tommy Z Band".

Family Friendly Event before the show:
-First Night Buffalo at the Convention Center will host carnival rides, games, and much more from 5pm-10pm. Pre-sale tickets can be purchased here.
