BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — This past winter may have been a back-breaker for some of us. Literally!
Buffalo is on track to become the snowiest city in America.
The only city Buffalo has to fend off is Syracuse.
So far this winter, a total of 116.1 inches of snow has fallen at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport. Syracuse is not too far behind, however. We're talking about half-a-shovel behind Buffalo.
Just over 111 inches of snow has fallen in Syracuse so far. But as you know, we still have another month of nuisance flakes to put up with.
Both Buffalo and Syracuse will add to their snow totals Sunday.
The average snowfall at the Buffalo Airport for the month of April is close to three inches. Syracuse sees about four inches of snow in April.
The Golden Snowball is a contest between Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany and Binghamton. The contest is based on what city receives the most snow during the winter season.
The Golden Snowglobe is a contest based on cities with a population over 100,000 people that receive the most snow.
