BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Buffalo’s bustling hip hop scene is gaining more and more notoriety.
“It’s a lot going on out here in Buffalo right now... a lot of people working and grinding. You know Griselda they popped it off. TheY done kicked the door in for buffalo so you know it's wide open now.”
Wide open for other artists like DatBoiSkeet .
“Well I’m from the Eastide side of Buffalo. The Central Park area to be exact,” he said.
DatBoiSkeet has ben rapping since 2005. “It was just like a hobby, like I use to do it just for fun,” he said. But in 2018, he started taking his rap career more seriously after his first music video hit a million views on World Star Hip Hop.
"I was never doing videos all like that, I just record," he said. "First visual I put out there, a million views. I was like alright. Paid features started coming. I was like alright I can do this."
DatboiSkeet releases majority of his music videos through World Star because there is a large number of hip hop lovers that already exist there.
“Instead of me just starting off trying to build up. I'm gonna just put it in everybody face so they can see it.”
The last music video DatBoiSkeet released on World Star, “93” featuring North Carolina Rapper Da Baby, hit 3 million views in just two days.
“And I, I hadn’t dropped on there in a while too so it was good to come back and come strong.”
Unlike most of DatBoiSkeet's music videos, this video is animated.
“I just wanted to do something different with the music video," he said. "And people was eating up.” Including music lovers from Buffalo.
“You know I’m just trying to open the door for myself and once I get that door open I can, you know, bring everybody else in too.”
