BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Carter Benton founded Johnnie's Blankets just a few months ago. Their entire motto is for every blanket that is purchased, they donate one to those in need.

"My goal for the first year was to get 50 blankets and we are way past that," Benton said.

Benton, a senior at SUNY Geneseo, has officially passed the 100 blanket donation mark. They go to three different organizations, the Buffalo City Mission, Saints Place in Pittsford, and St. Peter's Soup Kitchen in Rochester.

"(A blanket) is safety, it's comfort, and it's showing someone cares about them," St. Peter's Soup Kitchen Director Patricia Lorenzen said, "so there is a lot of blessings in giving and receiving a blanket."

This weekend, Benton will be selling limited edition blankets. The more that are purchased, the more are donated to the community.

"Once I get more orders I'll be able to spread the wealth and help more in Buffalo and Rochester," Benton said.
