KENMORE, N.Y. (WKBW) — On Sunday, firefighters from Kenilworth Volunteer Fire Company showed up at Kenmore Mercy Hospital with 125 meals for staff there.
The fire company had originally planned to serve the meals for a fundraiser, but that event had to be canceled because of the COVID-19 crisis.
Kenilworth's firefighters say they wanted to show appreciation for hospital workers, who are on the front lines responding to COVID-19. A picture provided by Kenmore Mercy shows firefighters carrying bags of takeout-style fish fry meals out of their fire truck.
In a press release, Kenmore Mercy Hospital president Walt Ludwig said, "we are so grateful for the generosity for the Kenilworth Volunteer Department. Their kindness in a tough time is appreciated more than they can know."
