TOWN OF NIAGARA, N.Y. (WKBW) — Three dogs just had complete changes of fate thanks to the Niagara County SPCA. It started over the weekend with Foreign and Hemi.

“A neighbor happened to see one of the dogs in a grate in the cage in the backyard walking on three legs. Upon closer inspection they saw another dog in the same cage laying down,” Tim Brennan, the executive director of the Niagara County SPCA, said.

The dog walking on three legs was Foreign. The pup in the cage was Hemi. He had sores from being kept in the cage for so long.

But, both dogs’ lives were changed when they walked through the doors of the SPCA.

“It’s really amazing when you see the look in their eyes. You really see that they now understand they’re in a place where they can trust again,” Brennan said.

Christmas’ eyes tell a similar story. She was rescued Tuesday.

“Christmas came into us as a stray today. She’s extremely emaciated but the sweetest personality you will ever meet,” Brennan said.

Now, all three dogs wait for their happy endings as they are treated by the SPCA.

“The nice story about Hemi is that the police officer involved in his rescue.. he and his wife have decided to adopt Hemi,” Brennan said, “And there was a sheriff’s deputy there that is very interested in adopting Foreign. We’re very happy to report that both of them will be going to great homes.”

That just leaves Christmas, who will be up for adoption in just a few weeks. Brennan said they’re hoping she finds her forever home for the holidays.

In the meantime, there are 17 other dogs waiting to find their forever families at the SPCA. Brennan said you just have to walk in and pick one out.
