BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The need has changed, but Western New Yorkers' commitment to helping their neighbors has not.
Starting on Tuesday, November 17, DJ Jickster of 97 Rock will spend a week living in a FeedMore WNY trailer at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. He'll be collecting turkeys, food and monetary donations in a contactless food drive.
This is Rock Out Hunger's 15th year helping people in need in Western New York. Last year, the program broke records for monetary donations and non-perishable food donations. Here are the totals from 2019:
- $36,000
- 32,400 pounds of non-perishable food
- 2,600 turkeys
While the program is set up to help families during the holidays, donations aren't limited to holiday food. FeedMore WNY suggests the following items:
- Shelf-stable proteins like canned tuna, canned chicken and peanut butter
- Low sodium canned vegetables
- Low sugar canned fruit
- Diapers
- Baby wipes
FeedMore WNY also accepts monetary donations online. You can donate and learn more about Rock Out Hunger here.
7ABC is proud to co-sponsor Rock Out Hunger with Kaleida Health and 97 Rock.
