LANCASTER, N.Y. (WKBW) — If you're looking for some Buffalo Strong holiday spirit, look no further than Stony Brook Drive in Lancaster. Each year, nine streets of homes light up for a good cause.

“We have a neighborhood of over 300 homes that are decorated. All of the lights on the streets are also decorated. We encourage you to enjoy a wonderful time," said Jennifer Chomen, Co-founder, Stony Brook Shines.

And while you enjoy the spectacle that is Stony Brook Shines, they ask that you drop off a donation. Over the years, they’ve raised more than $150,000 for 12 different charities.

Each year they choose a new charity to help out and 2020 is all about those who served.

"WNY heroes is the recipient this year and they have several programs that benefit the children of military veterans," Harry Chomen, Co-founder, Stony Brook Shines.

So you'll see a lot of red, white and blue decorations, which will help so many military families in WNY.

"It means a lot, especially this year with all of COVID going on and everyone taking a hard hit financially. Everyone’s support here in lancaster is really gonna make a huge difference for us," Chris Kreiger, Founder, WNY Heroes.

So far they’ve raised more than $4,000 for WNY Heroes.

"Everybody who knows a vet or posted on Facebook for Veteran's Day, it’s one thing to say thank you to a vet, but it’s another thing to give," said Jennifer Chomen.

The goal is to beat last year’s total of $38,000.

You can drop off donations to 54 Stony Brook Drive or 4 Kelly Ann Drive in Lancaster.

"We are looking to put five digits on this check and hand it over to WNY heroes,” said Chomen.
