BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Buffalo Zoo's newly refreshed reptile house is preparing for its big debut.
On Thursday, the official building dedication and ribbon cutting was held for the new $3.7m Donna M. Fernandes Amphibian and Reptile Center. The building is named after the zoo's former President and CEO.
Renovations to the building include a new roof, heating and ventilation systems, more than 40 amphibians and reptile species in 25 renovated naturalistic habitats, and interactive education elements. The restored facility will be home to some of the Zoo's newest residents, including a Komodo Dragon named Kadal and the largest type of venomous snake in the Western Hemisphere.
The building opens to the public on Friday.
